The Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Canada has set up a message board on its website for people to show their support and appreciation of healthcare workers in the fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome.

Launching the two-week campaign today, the office's Director Rosanna Ure said healthcare workers have shown their dedication and professionalism in the virus battle, adding that the death of a nurse in Hong Kong has, sadly, fully demonstrated the spirit of selfless commitment.

The campaign is sponsored by the alumni associations of Hong Kong University, Chinese University, Polytechnic University and Baptist University in Vancouver and Toronto, and supported by a number of orgnisations from Hong Kong, Toronto, Vancouver and Ontario.

Joining Mrs Ure to officiate at today's ceremony was Deputy Director of Health Dr Lam Ping-yan and representatives of the four alumni associations.
