The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.2% in the April-June quarter, matching the March-May figure, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
The underemployment rate remained at 1.4%.
An increase in unemployment was mainly observed in the information and communications sector, while a decrease was seen in the construction sector.
Total employment increased by 11,500 on the previous quarter to 3,791,600. The labour force also increased by 13,800 to 3,921,500.
There were 129,900 unemployed people and 55,600 underemployed people.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung said the labour market remained steady during the period. Labour supply is likely to increase in the near term as fresh graduates and school leavers join the job market during summer.
