Eddie Ng to visit Nanjing

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng will visit Nanjing December 5 to 7 to join more than 260 secondary school students and teachers in a Mainland exchange programme.

 

He will meet officials from the Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and the Jiangsu Youth Federation to discuss education and youth matters.

 

He will also meet with some Hong Kong students studying in the Jiangsu capital.

 

Mr Ng will accompany students and teachers to learn the history and culture of Nanjing, including the Nanjing Massacre and other important historical events.

 

They will conduct learning activities at historical and cultural sites, such as the "Nanjing Treaty" Historical Gallery, the Nanjing Museum and Dr Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum.

 

They will also visit Nanjing University to learn about the Mainland's higher education system, and attend a thematic talk by a history professor and a sharing session by Hong Kong students studying there.

 

Under Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung will be the Acting Secretary during Mr Ng's absence.
