Secretary for Education Eddie Ng will visit Guangdong today and tomorrow.
After arriving in Nansha, he will visit the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School, which officially opened in 2007, as the fifth school of the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
Mr Ng said Nansha has been playing an important role in the development strategies of the country in accordance with the 12th Five-Year Plan.
The graduate school has merged technology research and development, as well as high-end education, with the development needs of the region, providing a technology education and innovation platform for Guangdong and Hong Kong to promote talent and industrial development, he said.
In Guangzhou tonight, Mr Ng will meet Hong Kong businessmen and professionals working in the Guangdong capital.
Tomorrow he will visit the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and the Bureau of Education of Guangzhou Municipality, followed by a visit to Jinan University where he will meet Hong Kong students, before returning to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
He will be accompanied by Deputy Secretary for Education Michelle Wong and other officials.
