Labour chief promotes training plan

August 24, 2014

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung has encouraged young jobseekers to enrol in the Youth Employment & Training Programme.

Speaking at the award ceremony for the programme's most improved trainees today, Mr Cheung said he is glad that over 200,000 young people have benefited from the scheme so far, which helps them find job opportunities.

He noted that to keep pace with the changing needs of the labour market, the department has worked with employers and training institutions to organise various pilot employment projects, including the TA Online - e-Learning Support Training Programme designed for associate degree graduates who are trained to support the e-learning and wireless teaching and learning environment in primary and secondary schools.

He also noted the department recently launched the Employment Services Ambassador Programme for Ethnic Minorities to equip them with job skills by providing job opportunities in the Labour Department's job centres, and promoting employment services for ethnic-minority job seekers.
