Education chief to visit Beijing

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng will leave for Beijing tomorrow with 600 students and teachers on an exchange tour in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

 

The tour has been organised under the Passing On the Torch exchange programme, which offers over 20 activities, including exchanges with students and teachers at universities, visits to enterprises, museums, a cultural centre, an art zone, and leading economic development zones.

 

The delegation will attend the Flag Raising Ceremony at Tiananmen Square on July 1 for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day, followed by a visit to the Great Hall of the People.

 

During his stay in Beijing, Mr Ng will visit the Ministry of Education. He will also meet with Hong Kong students and businessmen.

 

Mr Ng will return to Hong Kong on July 3 and Under Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung will be the Acting Secretary for Education during his absence.
