New Year clean up:  Customs displays the haul of fake goods seized during the raids.

Customs officers arrested 20 people in a three-day raid, seizing 46,000 counterfeit Lunar New Year goods worth about $433,000.

Officers seized the goods from two wholesale and 14 retail points in North Point, Wan Chai, Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Kwai Chung and Yuen Long from February 4 to 6, and arrested nine men and 11 women, aged between 20 and 60.

The department advised consumers to buy from reputable shops, and reminded traders that selling infringing goods was a criminal offence, subject to a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a $500,000 fine.
