Police resolute in executing court order

November 15, 2014

Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang said today that officers will assist bailiffs in executing the Court’s injunction order and will exercise other legal powers as necessary to maintain order and ensure people’s safety.

Mr Tsang told reporters the Court has clearly directed that Police assist in the execution of its order and the force will give bailiffs its fullest support.

He said the Police have tried their best over the past seven weeks to maintain law and order, and have exercised the utmost restraint in dealing with protesters’ unlawful behaviour to avoid major confrontations.

The Police chief stressed that such behaviour cannot go on indefinitely, while urging protesters to leave the blocked roads.

He also appealed to people to obey the Court and not obstruct the execution of the injunction.

Police will take resolute action to deal with people who choose to defy the law and ignore the Court order, he added.
