Crimes arise from illegal occupation

November 08, 2014

The Police report there are still daily crimes occurring in the illegally occupied areas of the city.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man last evening in Mong Kok for using social media platforms to incite others to participate in illegal assembly and cause obstructions.

Since September 26, Police have arrested 11 men and three women, aged 13 to 39, for the offences of accessing a computer with criminal and dishonest intent and criminal intimidation.

At around 6pm yesterday, a police constable on his way to Kwai Chung Police Station to report for duty was assaulted by a man near the Kwai Fong MTR Station. After uttering intimidating remarks, the assailant fled.

The policeman had been sent to the protest areas in Mong Kok and Admiralty for duty. Police are investigating whether the motive involved in the case is related to the illegal occupation.

Police condemn such violent acts, stressing that the force will not tolerate any violence. Police will take decisive enforcement actions against illegal acts in a fair and impartial manner regardless of the background of any person involved.
