Wesley Wong to study assault case

March 14, 2014

Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen has delegated the authority to handle the Kevin Lau assault case to Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Wesley Wong, the Department of Justice announced today.

He said Mr Wong has no connection with the people involved in the case.

The department said the case involves considering and deciding whether any prosecution is warranted.

It said Mr Yuen and Director of Public Prosecutions Keith Yeung have both known Mr Lau for many years and the three were classmates when they studied law at the University of Hong Kong.

Mr Wong was given the authority to handle the case to avoid any possible perception of bias or improper influence.
