DSD Open Days starts

Director of Drainage Services Edwin Tong opened the Drainage Services Department Open Days event at Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works today.

 

With the theme of “Blue-Green Infrastructure for You & Me”, this year's event shows the department's work on flood prevention, sewage treatment and combating climate change.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Tong said Blue-Green Infrastructure enhances the community's living environment and maintains Hong Kong as a liveable city based on the sustainability principle.

 

The event covers key projects including the Relocation of Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns, the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A, the Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme and the Reconstruction & Rehabilitation of Kai Tak River.

 

There are thematic tours, display panels, model exhibitions and game booths. Other highlights include stage performances, a fun area for kids, a family planting corner and photo-taking places.

 

Free shuttle bus services are provided from 9.30am to 4.30pm from University MTR Station and Pai Tau Street in Sha Tin at intervals of 10-15 minutes.

 

The event continues tomorrow and admission and activities are free.
