Sewage works views sought

December 21, 2015

The Drainage Services Department today launched the Stage 3 Public Engagement exercise on relocating the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to caverns, which will last until February 29.

The exercise includes a roving exhibition and a community forum.

Views collected in the first two stages indicated general public support for the relocation. An environmental impact assessment was completed recently and the project is currently at the detailed investigation and design stage.

A 2012 feasibility study confirmed that relocating the sewage treatment works to the caverns at Nui Po Shan can release about 28 hectares of land and improve the surrounding living environment, bringing social and environmental benefits.

Views can be sent by email, faxed to 2827 8700, or posted to the department's Sewerage Projects Division at 44/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, specifying "Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns".
