Local dengue fever case investigated

September 20, 2016

The Centre for Health Protection confirmed yesterday the fourth local case of Dengue fever of the year affecting a female patient aged 59.

The patient lives in Tin Ma Court, Wong Tai Sin, and had no recent travel history.

She mainly stayed at home and went to her workplace on Argyle Street, Kowloon City during the incubation period.

Her blood specimen tested positive for serotype 1 Dengue virus upon testing which is different from serotype 3 of the three local cases earlier.

Extensive investigations with the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department are on-going to control the possible spread of the virus.

The Centre’s staff has conducted questionnaire surveys at the patient's residence for active case finding and arranging blood tests.

As of 5pm, 25 questionnaires involving 53 persons had been collected and all were asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, blood tests had been arranged for 26 persons with no abnormalities so far.
