The Centre for Health Protection has learned of a human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Shantou involving a 73-year-old man, who is in serious condition.

 
A total of 703 human cases of H7N9 have been reported by Mainland health authorities since 2013.

The centre reminded people not to visit live poultry markets and farms and to avoid contact with poultry, birds and their droppings.
