The Centre for Health Protection has learned of a human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Shanghai involving a 59-year-old man, who is under treatment.
A total of 665 human cases of A(H7N9) have been reported by Mainland health authorities since 2013.
Meanwhile, the centre has been notified another confirmed case of avian influenza A(H5N6) affecting a 40-year-old woman in Zhaoqing, who is in critical condition.
The centre reminded people not to visit live poultry markets and farms and to avoid contact with poultry, birds and their droppings.
