The Centre for Health Protection has learned of a fatal human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Guangdong involving a 61-year-old man.
The man, with underlying illnesses, had visited local market and had contact with live poultry.
A total of 664 human cases of A(H7N9) have been reported by Mainland health authorities since 2013.
The centre reminded people not to visit live poultry markets and farms and to avoid contact with poultry, birds and their droppings.
