Child found with elevated lead level

October 07, 2015

A child resident of Kai Ching Estate has been found to have an elevated lead level in the blood.

The sample was in a batch of 17 recently taken from residents and children attending kindergarten in the estate.

The 16 other samples were found to be normal.

The Department of Health is liaising with the child's family to arrange for lead exposure and preliminary developmental assessments.

The Hospital Authority will check the child's general health.

People can call 2125 1122 for lead enquiries and to make blood test appointments.

As at 5pm today, the hotline had received 7,735 enquiries and arranged 5,084 blood tests.
