2 treated for Legionnaires

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating cases of Legionnaires' disease affecting two men.

 

A 69-year-old man fell ill on August 1 and was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital yesterday.

 

The clinical diagnosis is pneumonia and he is in stable condition.

 

He tested positive for Legionella pneumophila.

 

He had travelled to Dongguan on July 30. His home contact is asymptomatic. 

 

A 65-year-old man fell ill on July 29 and was admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital yesterday.

 

The clinical diagnosis is also pneumonia and he is in stable condition.

 

He tested positive for the Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen.

 

He has no recent travel history.

 

The centre is investigating the two cases.
