Korea releases MERS hospital name

June 05, 2015

The Centre for Health Protection urges people who have visited Pyeongtaek St Mary's Hospital in Seoul from May 15 to 29 to call the centre's hotline, 2125 1111.

The hospital is located at 439-3, Segyo-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The Korean health authority released this hospital’s name today. It was the facility which managed the index case of the Korean Middle East Respiratory Syndrome outbreak, from May 15 to 17.

The majority of confirmed cases involved in this outbreak have been exposed at this hospital.

So far, MERS is known to have been transmitted in at least six healthcare facilities in Korea.

The centre will maintain close communication with the World Health Organisation and Korea's health authority.
