Lead tests to be conducted

July 06, 2015

Tests for excessive lead will be conducted in four Kai Ching Estate flats.

The Housing Department, the Department of Health and the Water Supplies Department met this afternoon to discuss follow-up action after excessive lead was reported to have been found in the estate's water supply.

The Government noted that test results on 33 drinking water samples from the estate earlier this month showed the lead content met the World Health Organisation standard.

However, there have been reports water in four of the flats does not comply with the standard. The departments will conduct tests and announce the results as soon as possible. They will discuss the matter with tenants tonight.

Checks throughout the estate will be extended.
