Estate's water up to WHO standard

July 05, 2015

The Housing Department has tested the quality of drinking water samples at Kai Ching Estate in Kai Tak and found the lead content in all the samples met the World Health Organisation standard.

The department issued this information in a statement in response to media queries.

The samples were collected from 11 locations, including inside flats at Kai Ching Estate, and had lead at levels less than the WHO standard of 10 μg per litre.

To ensure the results' accuracy, the testing was conducted in consultation with the Water Supplies Department and performed by independent laboratories accredited under the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme.

If residents of Kai Ching Estate have doubts about the quality of the potable water supply to their units, the Water Supplies Department will contact the Housing Department to collect water samples for testing.
