Ovitrap index rises

April 27, 2015

The monthly ovitrap index for March increased to 0.2% from zero in February.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department said that among the 44 areas surveyed last month, positive ovitrap indices were recorded in three of them, ranging from 1.9% to 3.6%, with the highest levels in Lam Tin.

For port areas, the monthly ovitrap index for March remained at zero as in February.

The ovitrap indices reflect the prevalence of Aedes albopictus, a mosquito vector for Dengue fever transmission.
