More Dutch poultry banned

March 13, 2015

The Centre for Food Safety today banned the import of poultry meat and products, including poultry eggs, from Gelderland province in the Netherlands.

The decision was made after Dutch authorities announced there was an outbreak of low pathogenic H7N7 avian influenza in the province.

The centre has contacted Dutch authorities and will monitor developments.

About 15,000 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and about 12.3 million poultry eggs were imported to Hong Kong from the Netherlands last year.
