Crowds gathered on both sides of Victoria Harbour tonight to watch the spectacular Lunar New Year fireworks display to celebrate the Year of the Ram.
The 23-minute show consisted of nine scenes with a total of 23,888 pyrotechnic shells fired from three barges.
Chinese characters such as "spring" and "ram" were featured to signal the year’s start; and the character for "harmony" and the lucky number "8" appeared together to symbolise peace and prosperity.
The fireworks display was accompanied by local pop songs to appeal to the post-‘80s generation.
