The Centre for Food Safety today urged people not to consume a kind of pre-packed frozen smoked trout from Britain possibly contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria due to defects in its vacuum packaging procedure.
The product is Inverawe Smoked Trout. It is imported by City Super Limited. Its label indicated that it can be stored up to three months, with the best-by date between May 30 and September 1 this year.
The British manufacturer has initiated a recall of the product. A small amount was imported to Hong Kong.
Consumers may call 2736 3866 for product recall.
The centre will monitor the situation.
