10 new Mainland bird flu cases confirmed

Ten new human avian influenza A(H7N9) cases have been reported in the Mainland, the Centre for Health Protection learned yesterday.All are in hospital.

 

Two cases are in Zhaoqing, a girl, aged five, and a man, 42. One is in Foshan, a man, 49. Another is in Shenzhen, a man, 56. Fujian and Guangxi each report one new case, a man aged 36, and a woman, 41.

 

Zhejiang reported four cases, two men, aged 49 and 67, and two women, aged 35 and 59.

 

As of yesterday, the Mainland had a total of 302 confirmed human bird flu cases, including Zhejiang (122), Guangdong (54), Shanghai (41), Jiangsu (37), Fujian (19), Hunan (six), Jiangxi (six), Anhui (four), Henan (four), Beijing (three), Guangxi (two), Shandong (two), Guizhou (one, imported from Zhejiang) and Hebei (one).

 

Travellers returning from avian influenza-affected areas who have a fever or respiratory symptoms should wear a mask, seek medical attention and reveal their travel history to doctors.
