Problematic pills:  The recalled unregistered proprietary Chinese medicine: [Wah Cheong Tong] Strong Tin Hee Pills.

Unregistered Chinese medicine recalled

October 11, 2012
The Department of Health today ordered Kin Lik Trading to recall 24 brands of unregistered proprietary Chinese medicine for posing public health threats as their safety, efficacy and quality have not been proven.

Department staff found the manufacturer's name printed on the box of [Wah Cheong Tong] Strong Tin Hee Pills was different from the registration information the Chinese Medicine Council maintained.

This medicine was manufactured on the Mainland and repackaged by Kin Lik for sale in Hong Kong. It was found Kin Lik wholesaled 23 other brands of unregistered medicine manufactured on the Mainland.

The department will work with the Department of Justice on any prosecution matter. The case will be referred to the council for possible disciplinary action.

Kin Lik has set up a hotline, 2498 5063, for enquiries.
