The Department of Health today ordered the recall of all batches of Chinese medicine Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Wan (registration no.HKP-11335), as its microbial limit exceeds the registration criteria set out by the Chinese Medicines Board.
The department found a batch of the product had a total bacterial count six times over the registration criteria.
It is manufactured on the Mainland and imported by wholesaler Peking Health Products Company. The department has instructed it to recall the product.
The wholesaler has set up a telephone hotline (2424 7676) for enquiries.
The product is used to treat common colds, diarrhoea, vomiting, heat-stroke, and headache.
The department has informed Mainland authorities about the product.
It advised people to stop using the product and to seek a doctor's advice if they feel unwell.
