Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today met with economic ministers of various ASEAN member states in Laos before attending the 1st ASEAN Economic Ministers – Hong Kong, China Consultations.
He met Laos Minister of Industry & Commerce Khemmani Pholsena, Malaysian Minister of International Trade & Industry Mustapa Mohamed, Thai Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn, and Indonesian Director General of International Trade Co-operation Iman Pambagyo.
Mr So discussed with them the Hong Kong, China – ASEAN Free Trade Agreement negotiations with an emphasis on the committed goal to conclude the negotiations within this year.
He met Chinese Ambassador to Laos Guan Huabing and attended a consultation session to discuss the progress and target of the free trade agreement negotiations with participating ASEAN Economic Ministers.
He also attended a dinner to open the 13th ASEAN Leadership Forum with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, Laos Prime Minister Dr Thongloun Sisoulith, Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
