Green organisations commended

April 19, 2016

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong today presented the 2015 Awards for Environmental Excellence and the Green Innovations Award at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Wong said Hong Kong is facing the challenge of climate change. He urged the community to help tackle the problem.

Using cleaner fuel, saving energy, choosing environmentally-friendly transport, and reducing waste, are essential to carbon reduction, he said.

The Government has set up the Steering Committee on Climate Change to design an enhanced climate change work plan, he added.

Entries for the environmental excellence awards reached a record high of 1,146, with 178 organisations commended for green management practices and for implementing effective and innovative energy-saving and waste reduction measures.

Seventy-one organisations were recognised as Green Organisations.
