Chief Executive CY Leung says Hong Kong is committed to regional economic integration.
Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Business Advisory Council Dialogue in Lima yesterday, Mr Leung discussed the recommendations of the council’s 2016 annual report to APEC leaders.
They include supporting the multilateral trading system; enabling a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific; growing global micro, small and medium enterprises; achieving food security; and promoting a healthy and productive workforce.
Mr Leung said Hong Kong, as a strong advocate of free trade, sees the importance of strengthening trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation.
He said he looks forward to the realisation of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, which will advance regional economic integration and boost business opportunities among APEC economies.
Mr Leung also attended the APEC CEO Summit, during which President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech.
Mr Leung later held a bilateral meeting with Peruvian Second Vice President Mercedes Araoz.
He also attended the APEC 2016 Economic Leaders' Meeting welcome dinner.
