CE to call for Lee news

January 18, 2016

Chief Executive CY Leung says he will ask Mainland authorities to respond to enquiries by the Hong Kong Police in regards to missing bookseller Lee Bo, as soon as possible.

Speaking to the media today, Mr Leung said Mainland authorities have not yet replied to questions on the Lee case, but the local investigation is ongoing.

Responding to questions over recent media reports on Gui Minhai, another missing person from the same bookstore, Mr Leung said the case had not been reported to the Hong Kong Police or the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. However, he said it will look into the Gui case to see if it can aid the Lee inquiry.

"We attach a great deal of importance to such and any other information that can help the Hong Kong Police and Hong Kong Government understand the case better," he said.
