Acting Chief Executive John Tsang, Acting Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung and senior government officials attended an official ceremony today at City Hall Memorial Garden to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
The 8am ceremony included a Police Band performance, a choir singing the national anthem, flag raising, a Police Rifle Squad gun salute, silence in mourning and wreath laying.
About 700 people - including judicial officers, an Executive Council member, Legislative Council representative, war veteran group representatives and students - attended the ceremony.
