Chief Executive CY Leung met with National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhang Dejiang today during an official visit to Beijing.
Speaking to reporters to conclude the visit, Mr Leung said Mr Zhang expressed robust approval of the Hong Kong SAR Government's work on constitutional development.
Mr Leung said Mr Zhang said he would continue to give full support to the SAR Government and he agreed to the plan to concentrate on developing the city’s economy and improving livelihood in the coming two years.
Mr Zhang also expressed full confidence in Hong Kong’s future and he mentioned a series of the country’s policies and strategies that will benefit Hong Kong’s development, Mr Leung said.
They included “One Belt One Road”, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the 13th Five-Year Plan.
Mr Leung said Hong Kong’s next generation will enjoy better lives and more job opportunities if the city seizes the chances brought by these initiatives.
