Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing visited the 2015 Kaifong Representative Election polling station on Cheung Chau today.

Today’s election for Cheung Chau and Peng Chau is the first statutory kaifong representative election held in accordance with the newly amended Rural Representative Election Ordinance, which covers both elections of kaifong representatives and village representatives.

"The voting of Rural Representative Election is being held for four consecutive weeks and I am glad the total number of candidates and the total number of voters are higher than those of the last election. I believe all the elected village representatives and kaifong representatives will serve their residents wholeheartedly and work closely with the Government to foster further developments in their villages and market towns,” Mr Tsang said.

The village representative elections were held on January 4, 11 and 18.
