Tornado appears at airport

A tornado was seen at Hong Kong International Airport during a thunderstorm on September 6.

The Hong Kong Observatory said the tornado had a wind speed of about 62 kilometres per hour and lasted several minutes.

The last tornado seen in Hong Kong occurred two years ago, also at the airport on a stormy day. However, this tornado was much stronger than yesterday's in terms of wind speed, at 90 kilometres per hour. Thankfully, virtually no damage was caused by either whirlwind.
