Atypical pneumonia has been making people sick recently. But if you wash your hands regularly with liquid soap and take care of your health, you can keep from getting the illness.
If you do get the disease, you will probably have a fever and chills, a cough, and a headache. You will feel tired and your muscles might be sore, too.
You can catch it from other people's coughs and sneezes. You can also get it by touching someone who is sick.
Be sure to wash your hands often with liquid soap. Most importantly, do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth without washing your hands first!
If you get sick, cover your face when sneezing and coughing, and wash you hands afterwards - every time. This will keep you from spreading your germs to other people.
If you do get atypical pneumonia, follow the advice from your doctor. Most of the people who have been infected are recovering, and many have already been sent home well from the hospital.
Remember to get enough exercise and rest, maintain a good diet and keep yourself clean.
You should also follow these tips from the Department of Health:
* Clean your toys regularly
* Ask your parents or guardian to open the windows for better ventilation
* Do not share towels, food or drinks with other people
* Avoid crowded places
* See a doctor immediately if you start to feel sick, and wear a mask.
