514 tickets issued in traffic crackdown

Police issued 514 fixed-penalty tickets and 64 summonses to road users for violating traffic regulations in a two-day crackdown on Hong Kong Island.

 

Among the tickets issued, 328 were for illegal parking while 186 were for other traffic offences. 

 

Police officers cautioned 24 pedestrians and 178 drivers for committing minor traffic offences. They also distributed leaflets.

 

There were 1,718 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island from January to July, in which 52.3% were attributed to pedestrian negligence.
