Amber outbound travel alert issued for Russia
*
Immigration Department

The Government has issued an amber outbound travel alert for Russia, due to the health hazard to travellers - especially seniors and children - from the smog from persistent forest fires there.

The Government also considered the latest advice from countries such as Australia and Canada.

Those who plan to visit Russia should monitor the situation there. People with heart or respiratory diseases should seek medical advice before travelling, the Department of Health advises. Those already in the country should avoid prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion. For details, click here.

Hong Kong group tours currently in Russia are continuing with their itineraries and the scenic spots there in general remain open.

Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the Immigration Department's 24-hour hotline, (852) 1868.
