Frank Poon appointed Solicitor General
*

Frank Poon will succeed Ian Wingfield as Solicitor General from August 2.

Secretary for Justice Wong Yan Lung said Mr Poon has deep legal knowledge, and impressive professional competence and leadership skills. He will lead the Department of Justice's Legal Policy Division in delivering professional and quality services.

Mr Poon, 54, joined the Government as Government Counsel in 1991. He was promoted to Principal Government Counsel in 2008.

Mr Wingfield has 28 years of exemplary service to the department, making significant contributions to Hong Kong's law development.

The Solicitor General develops legal policy, advises the Secretary for Justice on complex and sensitive legal issues, and oversees the department's legislative programme.
