*
Hong Kong Police

A 78-year-old man was killed and 30 people were injured in a bus crash in Tsuen Wan this morning.

Around 10.10am, the bus was travelling on Tuen Mun Road towards Kowloon. Near Belvedere Garden, its driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. It ran into a broken down container truck stopped on the shoulder.

On impact, a passenger was thrown from the bus while two others - including the elderly man - were trapped inside and rescued by firemen. The senior was certified dead at the scene.

In all, 13 men and 17 women, aged 20 to 84, were also injured and sent to Yan Chai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment.

New Territories South special traffic investigation team is looking into the accident. Anyone who saw it or has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2611 3200.
