Man arrested for suspected pyramid selling

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man in Tsim Sha Tsui for suspected pyramid selling, seizing 8,000 bottles of skincare and health products, four computers and a large quantity of documents.

A Nepalese man earlier this month complained about a company which invites ethnic minorities to join an investment scheme. Clients were required to pay a $2,000 non-refundable joining fee for skincare or health products. After joining they were told they would receive a $200 rebate for introducing any new member.

Police raided the company on Granville Road yesterday and made the arrest. The man has been released on bail pending further investigations. The company was found to have 3,000 active members involving about $6 million.

Anyone who might have fallen prey to the scam, or who has information, is urged to contact Police on 2761 7200 or 2761 7222.
