66 illegal workers arrested in Yuen Long
*
Hong Kong Police

Police arrested 66 people who were engaged in illegal employment in Yuen Long, with the help of the Immigration Department today.

Police officers from Pat Heung Division and the Quick Reaction Force together with Immigration Task Force officers began the three-hour round-up at 3am.

The operation was targeted at two-way permit holders who breached the conditions of stay including working illegally in Hong Kong,

Fifty-one men and 15 women, aged 20 to 51, were found living in containers and abandoned farmhouses in Tai Kong Po Village, Ng Ka Tsuen, and the Ho Pui area.

They were believed to be engaged in illegal employment as construction workers or debris-salvaging activities and will be handed over to the Immigration Department for follow-up action.
