Police arrested a 45-year-old man and seized a converted starting pistol and stun gun in Tsim Sha Tsui this afternoon.
Following intensive investigations, Kowloon West Regional Crime Unit's officers identified targets suspected to be members of a syndicate.
The Police believe that they are planning to smuggle firearms into Hong Kong for committing serious crimes.
Detectives mounted surveillance over a restaurant at Maniden Row, Tsim Sha Tsui at about 3pm, where they saw a suspect.
Officers stopped the man as he was about to leave the restaurant. A converted starting pistol with three bullets and a stun gun was found in his possession.
Police arrested him and are detaining him for further enquiries.
