Six absconded IIs arrested
*
Immigration Department

Immigration officers assisted by Police apprehended six people today in an operation on absconded right of abode claimants.

More than 70 officers went to 22 residential premises and apprehended three men and three women.

Except for one Two Way Permit-holding female overstayer who was detained for further enquiries, the remaining five were repatriated to the Mainland.

Since the grace period expired at the end of March last year, more than 2,930 right of abode claimants who have lost their litigation have been repatriated to the Mainland.

The Immigration Department appealed to claimants who had lost their litigation to return to the Mainland voluntarily and apply to return to Hong Kong through legal channels.
