HK scores another silver, 5 more bronze medals

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has applauded Hong Kong athletes for winning another silver and five more bronze medals in the East Asian Games.

 

Tang Wing-yung took the silver in the women's 1,500m freestyle swimming event.

The bronze medals came in the women's 53kg weightlifting (Yu Wei-li), women's 200m freestyle swimming (Au Hoi-shun) women's 100m butterfly swimming (Hannah Wilson), women's 1,500m freestyle swimming (Carmen Nam), and men's 4 x 100m freestyle swimming relay (Cheung Kin-tat, Lum Ching-tat, Ng Chun-nam and Wong Kai-wai).

"Hong Kong athletes have once again demonstrated their unswerving efforts and sportsmanship in various events. We are thrilled by their achievements in the weightlifting and swimming competitions today," Mr Tsang said.

 

The Hong Kong delegation has so far won eight gold, 14 silver and 21 bronze medals in the 2009 EAG.
