The "Hong Kong International Airport: Global Connectivity. World-class Service" exhibition has kicked off at the atrium of the Hong Kong pavilion at the Shanghai expo. It showcases the airport's seamless connectivity and significant contributions to Hong Kong's economic growth, and runs until June 22.

Hong Kong's Expo Affairs Office Commissioner Patrick Chan and Airport Authority Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hui officiated at the exhibition's launch. Panels highlight Hong Kong's extensive aviation network, the airport's world-class services and facilities, and its environmental initiatives.

"Hong Kong connects to the world seamlessly due to its advantageous geographic location and superior transport infrastructure system," Mr Chan said at the opening.

"It is most appropriate for the Airport Authority to stage this thematic exhibition at the Hong Kong Pavilion to introduce the various edges and outstanding services of our airport to people from all parts of the world visiting our pavilion."

The airport is a platinum sponsor of Hong Kong's participation in the expo. There are 27 sponsors contributing more than $38 million in cash and kind.

Six thematic exhibitions were slated to be held in the Hong Kong pavilion's atrium during the expo. The first - "Green Living in Hong Kong" - ended yesterday.

The others are the "One Country, Two Systems" exhibition from June 23 to July 15; the "Stories Behind Banknotes" exhibition from July 16 to August 15; the "Passion for Hong Kong" exhibition of Works by Prof Jao Tsung-I from August 16 to September 30; and the "Creativity of Hong Kong Industries" exhibition from October 1 to October 31.
