6-month publicity drive set to boost tourism

*

A large-scale publicity drive to boost tourism is set to be launched.

The Tourism Commission and Tourism Board will run the drive for at least six months.

Speaking after the Economic Relaunch Strategy Group meeting today, Financial Secretary Antony Leung said promotional activities will be held every month, both in Hong Kong and overseas.

Noting that the recent hotel occupation rate has been on the rise, Mr Leung said the Government will continue working closely with local and overseas chambers to disseminate the message that Hong Kong is a safe place to visit.

The Home Affairs Bureau will also co-operate with the local community to launch a series of items to boost local consumption.

Noting the 50% increase in the sales of computer-related products in the recent Sham Shui Po Computer Festival, Mr Leung said local consumption power is on the rise.
