The Transport & Housing Bureau has proposed carrying out improvement works at the Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon exit, to improve its overall operation and meet traffic demands from the MTR Kowloon Station development.
Gazetted today, the proposed works will start in 2008 and take about 15 months to complete.
They include constructing a single-lane road connecting the toll plaza at the Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon exit and its up-ramp to Jordan Road; widening the existing up-ramp to Jordan Road, and constructing a bridge deck extension for two-lane road over Jordan Road.
Works will also include building a covered footbridge extension connecting the toll plaza; providing two lifts on each side of the existing footbridge, installing traffic aids and street furniture, relocating a covered bus stop and a bus lay-by and modifying traffic islands.
Some of the amenity areas will be converted into roads or footpaths while some roads and footpaths will be temporarily or permanently closed, reconstructed or demolished.
People wanting to object to the works, or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, by May 19.
The works plan and scheme are available for inspection at the district offices of Central & Western and Yau Tsim Mong and Kowloon West District Lands Office.
