Yau Tong industrial sites rezoned 'residential'
*

Five Yau Tong sites have been rezoned "residential" to encourage the phasing out of obsolete industrial buildings, the Town Planning Board says.

According to the approved Cha Kwo Ling, Yau Tong, Lei Yue Mun Outline Zoning Plan, two sites - one in Yau Tong Bay and the other in the Yau Tong Industrial Area - have been zoned "comprehensive development area". The existing Lei Yue Mun Village has been zoned "village-type development".

To provide land for both active and passive recreational use about 19.54 hectares in the district has been zoned open space.

Major open spaces include Sam Ka Tsuen Recreation Ground, Laguna Park, Sai Tso Wan Recreation Ground and Sin Fat Road Tennis Court. Sites have been reserved for district open space use and development of a waterfront promenade. About 55.08 hectares of land has been zoned "green belt" to preserve hill slopes.
